Canadians in Paris (Montmartre, Eiffel Tower Selfies and Yummy French food!)

It’s impossible to go to Paris and only write one blog post about it. That’s like going to Ladurée and only eating one macaron (unacceptable!).

Anyway, I want to apologize for the lack of posts lately – between work, thesis writing, resumes, varying freelance work, and helping the bf with his move to Dusseldorf on the weekends, it has been really hard to find free time. Luckily November is around the corner, which means a trip to Istanbul that I’m super excited about! I’ve actually also booked my flight to Canada for Christmas the other day (with a layover in Iceland) so it’ll definitley be nice to be home after spending the past 3 Christmases in Germany.

Now back to posts about Paris! So after our delightful visit to Monet’s garden in Giverny, me and the bf took the train back to Paris to meet up with one of my best friends from high school, Leana, for the weekend! Up until then, I hadn’t seen Leana in over a year, so it was definitley fun to be able to catch up with her, in Paris of all places!

Nothing better to start off our Parisian adventures than a trip to Montmartre to pay homage to all the amazing artists who used to hang out there back in the day.

Of course, modern day Montmatre is pretty full of artists too!

Sacre Coeur is always an impressive sight whenever I see it!

One of my favourite things to do on top of the hill at Montmatre is to have a few drinks while enjoying the view of the city. We stayed until after sunset, and between watching the street performers, listening to the musicians and watching the glistening city lights in the distance, it’s hard not to fall in love with Paris over and over again!

Since it was Leana’s first time in Paris, we decided to hit up Trocadero, to get one of the best views of Paris you can get. Look at that beauty!

And of course….here it comes…the obligatory Eiffel Tower selfies!

We also spent a good deal of time walking around Paris, stopping (quite often) to take pictures of everything we found beautiful. Like this view for example!

We were also lucky that we were there on the first Sunday of the month, since my absolute favourite museum in the world, Musee d’Orsay happened to have free entry! The line was quite long as we must’ve waited for almost an hour, but it was well worth it considering all how the previous times I went, I waited almost as long without free entry. If I ever live in Paris, the first thing I’d do is get a membership pass here!

Being an artist with a huge love for Impressionist art, Musee d’Orsay is like heaven with all the Degas, Monet, Renoir paintings you can find! Here are some of my favourites that I’m sure you guys know was well.

Before we parted ways on Sunday evening – me back to the Netherlands and Leana to England, we wanted to have a nice authentic French dinner. We stumbled upon a really cute little place that also turned out to be quite the gem! A menu that included an appetizer, main course and desert only came to 12 euros, and the food was delicious!

If you guys are in Paris, I would highly recommend this place!
