Hey everyone!
I’m now (officially after registering with the city!) living in Regensburg, which is a really pretty city about an hour and a half from Munich, and is located in the very German state of Bavaria…home to things like pretzels, beer, sausages, lederhosen and dirndls (you know, those dresses that make your boobs look great).
Sorry for the lack of updates lately…since I moved to Regensburg over a week ago, I haven’t had internet in my apartment. With about a week before grad school starts, I’ve been busy with a bunch of things. Some of them are really frustrating like trying to enrol at the university (their enrolment dates are from Oct 11th-15th, but Oct 11th is a Friday and the uni isn’t open on the weekends…that makes total sense doesn’t it?!) and waiting over four hours in a room to pick up the keys to my dorm.
But there’s also lots of exciting things in between, like going to Oktoberfest again (although unfortunately it was a very rainy Oktoberfest this year), and exploring Regensburg and Munich with the bf.
I do love that it’s a small city, but big enough with lots things to do. It’s as pretty as Heidelberg (prettier actually in my opinion) but without so many tourists.
Here’s some fun facts…
- In Latin, Regensburg is called Ratisbon
- It’s one of the oldest German cities and the entire city centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site
- Pope Benedict XVI taught as a professor at the University of Regensburg until 1977
- Oscar Schindler lived there after the war until he emigrated to Argentina in 1948
- One could argue that Regensburg was actually the capital city of the Holy Roman Empire from 1594 to the dissolution of that empire (by Napoleon) in 1806 (submitted by Andreas Moser)
Lovely photos. I hope that I will visit Germany more often when I move to Europe next year. Love the photos of church 🙂
Thanks! You must be excited to move to Europe! Give me a shout when you’re in Germany! 🙂

Welcome to Regensburg!
I went to Law School there.
In your fun facts, you might want to include that one could argue that Regensburg was actually the capital city of the Holy Roman Empire from 1594 to the dissolution of that empire (by Napoleon) in 1806.
Thanks! What a small world 🙂
And I will!
