One thing I’ve never liked much about Germany is the food. Sure those travel books always try to make sausages and schnitzel into something fun and exciting, but judging from the amount of Turkish eateries, I think people here are quite glad that getting a döner or kebab is only a few minutes walk, no matter where you are. So of course amongst other things, I was really excited for Spanish food!
On my second day in Barcelona, I discovered the most amazing market off La Rambla called La Boqueria. As I was walking into the entrance, I heard an American exclaim, “LOOK AT ALL THIS EXOTIC SHIT!!” so I knew it had to be good.
And it was! I couldn’t stop taking pictures of all the colourful fruits and vegetables. And everything was so affordable too! Fresh juices and fruit cups for 1 euro, pastries for 2-3 euros, and stalls displaying every type of seafood imaginable!
Soon after, me and all my friends there had become addicted to the market. We would go there twice, even three or four times a day! Sometimes we even planned our days around the market opening times. When we discovered that the market was closed during Easter weekend, we ended up buying some noodles from the Wok-to-Walk across the street and gaze forlornly at the closed stalls of the market.
It really was a horrible addiction.
Have you ever been to La Boqueria? What’s the best food market you’ve ever been to?
Though tends to be too touristy and crowded, I have to admit that la Bouqeria is amazing.
Love the colorful products they sell there, and it’s very clean (compare to food markets in my country.. lol) And the fresh juice is amazing!
Yea it is really touristy and sooooo crowded, but I think it’s worth it! 😀 I love the fresh juices! I made sure to try a different one every day haha
Sooo colorful!! 😀
It is 🙂
Wow, what awesome variety! That looks like red dragonfruit in the centre of the last photo? I’ve only ever seen the white kind here in Canada~
Not sure what that is actually, haha. But I love dragon fruit!! They’re so pretty too 🙂
I love Spanish food. I lived in Madrid for two months and fell in love with all the incredible markets there – and it’s all so cheap 🙂
Yea I was so addicted to the market I went there every single day! 🙂
